Starr's career began inauspiciously, as he was drafted in the 17th round of the 1956 NFL Draft. However, he quickly proved himself to be a talented quarterback, and by 1960 he had led the Packers to their first championship in more than a decade. Over the next decade, Starr established himself as one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history, with a career record of 94-57-6, five NFL championships, two Super Bowl wins, and one MVP award. He retired in 1971 as the Packers' all-time leading passer, with 24,718 yards and 152 touchdowns.

After retiring from football, Starr went on to work as a coach and executive in the NFL. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977, and his name has become synonymous with the Green Bay Packers and the success they achieved under his leadership. Starr's legacy as a quarterback is secure, and his influence on the game of football can still be seen today in the careful, strategic approach to quarterbacking that he helped popularize in the NFL.
