Wells's professional football career lasted from 2009 to 2012, all spent with the Arizona Cardinals. In his rookie season, he had a slow start due to injuries but still managed to break the Cardinals' rookie rushing record with 793 yards. Wells had his best season in 2011, where he had 1047 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, leading the Cardinals to their first winning season since 2009. However, he struggled with injuries and inconsistency throughout his career, and in 2013, Wells was released by the Cardinals and eventually retired from football.

Despite his short-lived career, Beanie Wells is still remembered as one of the most successful running backs in Ohio State history and a talented player in the NFL. Wells was known for his powerful running style, speed, and ability to break tackles, making him a valuable asset to the Cardinals' offense. After retirement, Wells pursued other ventures, including broadcasting and coaching, and remains a beloved figure in Ohio and Arizona football communities.
