After college, Dawson was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1957 but was quickly traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he played as a backup for four seasons. He was then traded to the Dallas Texans, which later became the Kansas City Chiefs, in 1962. It was with the Chiefs that Dawson truly made his mark on the game. He led the team to three AFL championships and a victory in the first-ever Super Bowl in 1967. His success on the field earned him the nickname "Lenny the Cool" and made him a fan favorite in Kansas City.

Dawson retired in 1975 and immediately began a broadcasting career, covering football games for CBS and NBC. He is still involved in football today, frequently appearing on local Kansas City sports talk shows and as a color commentator on Chiefs games. His contributions to the game of football have been recognized with several awards, including induction into the Chiefs Hall of Fame and being named to the AFL All-Time Team. Len Dawson's legacy as a football player and broadcaster has left an indelible mark on the game of football. Read even more about Len Dawson at Wikipedia
