Bulger played at West Virginia University (WVU) for four years, where he was a three-time All-Big East Conference selection. He finished his college career with 8,153 passing yards, 59 touchdown passes, and a 57.9% completion rate, which made him one of the most successful quarterbacks in WVU's history. Bulger's professional career started when he was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He spent one season with the Saints before joining the St. Louis Rams, where he played from 2002 to 2009. In his second year with the Rams, he led the team to the playoffs and earned Pro Bowl honors after throwing for 3,845 yards and 22 touchdowns. He continued to be one of the league's most productive quarterbacks over the next few seasons, throwing for over 3,800 yards and 20 touchdowns in each of the next three years. Bulger retired from the NFL in 2011 with career stats of 22,814 passing yards, 122 touchdowns, and a passer rating of 84.4.

Overall, Marc Bulger's football career was one of the most successful in the sport's history. He was a two-time Pro Bowler and one of the NFL's most productive quarterbacks during his tenure with the St. Louis Rams.
