During his career, Wayne was one of the most consistent wide receivers in the league. He played for the Colts for his entire career, and was a key part of one of the most successful eras in the franchise's history. Wayne became one of the most reliable targets for future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, and later for Andrew Luck. Wayne was selected to six Pro Bowls and was named an All-Pro three times. He helped the Colts win the Super Bowl in 2007, catching the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Wayne retired from the NFL after the 2015 season with an impressive résumé. He finished his career with 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns. He ranks in the top 10 all-time for receiving yards and receptions in NFL history. Wayne was known for his precise route-running, excellent hands, and toughness on the field.
