During his first four seasons with the Steelers, Woodson was a force to be reckoned with on defense. By his fifth season in 1992, he already had 29 career interceptions. Despite his successes, he was released by the Steelers in 1997 due to salary cap issues. Woodson then joined the San Francisco 49ers, where he continued to perform at an elite level. In 1998, he suffered a season-ending knee injury, but made an impressive comeback the following year.

In 1999, Woodson signed with the Baltimore Ravens and was instrumental in taking the team to the Super Bowl XXXV championship game. He retired in 2003, after 237 career games and 71 interceptions. Woodson's contributions to football did not end with his playing days, however. He went on to become a coach and later a broadcaster, using his extensive knowledge and love for the game to further contribute to the sport. Read even more about Rod Woodson at Wikipedia
