Dorsett’s NFL career began in 1977 when he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. In his rookie season, he was named Offensive Rookie of the Year after rushing for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns. He quickly became one of the most dynamic players in the league and helped lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory in 1978. Dorsett continued to excel throughout his career, earning four Pro Bowl selections and helping the Cowboys to another Super Bowl victory in 1992.

After retiring from the NFL in 1988, Dorsett continued to be involved in football as a coach and analyst. He was diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in 2013, likely caused by the repeated head trauma he sustained during his football career. In response, Dorsett has become an advocate for player safety in football and has called for more research into the long-term effects of head injuries. Despite this health setback, Dorsett’s legacy as a football player and his impact on the sport continue to inspire and influence new generations of football players.
