Warren Moon

Warren Moon was born on November 18, 1956, in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in a football-loving family, with his father being a football coach. Moon attended the University of Washington where he played college football and set numerous school records. Despite his outstanding performance, he went undrafted in the 1978 NFL Draft. He then joined the Canadian Football League (CFL) and played for the Edmonton Eskimos, where he won five consecutive Grey Cup championships (1978-1982) and established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in league history. Moon finally got his NFL break when he signed with the Houston Oilers in 1984. In his first season, he started all 16 games and passed for over 3,000 yards. He continued to put up impressive numbers throughout his career, including nine Pro Bowl selections, three All-Pro honors, and an induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. He played for four different NFL teams, with his most successful years coming as a member of the Oilers. Moon finished his career with over 49,000 passing yards and 291 touchdowns, ranking him among the all-time greats in NFL history.

Off the field, Moon has been a trailblazer for African-American quarterbacks in professional football. He was the first African-American quarterback to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and was one of the first African-American quarterbacks to achieve success as a starter in the NFL. Additionally, he has been a businessman and an analyst for several television networks.
