Y.A. Tittle was an American football quarterback born in Marshall, Texas on October 24, 1926. He played college football at Louisiana State University where he led his team to an SEC championship and a victory in the 1947 Sugar Bowl. Tittle was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1948, but he didn't start his professional career until 1950 after serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. More about Y.A. Tittle

Tittle had his most successful years in the NFL with the New York Giants from 1961 to 1964. He led the Giants to three straight NFL championship games and was named league MVP in 1963. In 1962, he set a then-NFL record of 33 touchdown passes in a season. Tittle played a total of 17 seasons in the NFL, including stints with the Baltimore Colts and San Francisco 49ers, and retired at the age of 38 in 1964 with a career total of 33,070 passing yards and 242 touchdowns.

Tittle was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971, and his number 14 has been retired by the Giants. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, known for his strong arm and toughness on the field. Off the field, Tittle was known for his humility and graciousness, and he remained involved in football as a coach and broadcaster after retiring as a player.
