Heatley played for two different teams during his career, the Atlanta Thrashers and the Ottawa Senators. He was drafted in the first round, second overall, by the Thrashers in 2000, and after two seasons, he was traded to the Senators. It was during his time with the Senators that he truly shone, becoming a two-time 50-goal scorer and earning a reputation as one of the league's top snipers. He also helped lead the Senators to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2007, where they were ultimately defeated by the Anaheim Ducks.

Despite his impressive statistics, Heatley's career was not without controversy. In 2003, he was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of his teammate Dan Snyder, for which he was charged with vehicular homicide. Heatley pled guilty and received a probationary sentence. Despite the tragedy, Heatley continued to have a successful career, reaching the 300-goal mark and representing Canada in various international competitions, including the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he won a gold medal. Heatley retired from professional hockey in 2019, finishing his career with 372 goals and 791 points in 869 NHL games. Read even more about Dany Heatley at Wikipedia
