David Shaw Autographs
David Shaw was born on May 25, 1963, in Sudbury, Ontario. He was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman and played for four different National Hockey League (NHL) teams from 1982 to 1999. Shaw started his NHL career with the New York Rangers in 1982, where he played for four seasons. He then moved to the Quebec Nordiques and the Ottawa Senators before joining the Buffalo Sabres, where he played for six seasons from 1991 to 1997.
Shaw was renowned for his defensive skills and his ability to read the game. He was often used by his coaches to mark the opposing team's best forwards. Despite being known for his defensive prowess, Shaw also contributed offensively to his teams with his strong skating and precise passes. He scored 42 goals and 123 assists in his 838 regular-season games. He also played in 101 playoff games, where he helped his teams to reach two Stanley Cup Finals.
After retiring from playing, Shaw stayed involved in hockey as a coach. He worked with the Sabres as an assistant coach for the 1999-2000 season before joining the Columbus Blue Jackets as an assistant coach from 2000 to 2002. Shaw also worked as a head coach in the United Hockey League (UHL) with the Motor City Mechanics, where he won the league championship in 2005. David Shaw's career as both a player and a coach in the NHL and other professional leagues has earned him a spot in the history of ice hockey.
