Howe quickly established himself as one of the best players in the league. With his powerful shot and tenacious playing style, he led the Red Wings to three Stanley Cup championships in the 1950s. During his career, he won four Stanley Cups and six Hart Trophies as the NHL's Most Valuable Player. He also set many records, including most career points (1,850), most career goals (801), and most career assists (1,049) at the time of his retirement in 1980.

Despite retiring from professional hockey, Howe continued to remain involved in the sport. He played in some games with the International Hockey League and made special appearances with his sons, Marty and Mark, who also played in the NHL. Howe’s remarkable career inspired generations of hockey players and fans alike, and he remains one of the greatest players ever to grace the ice. On June 10, 2016, after a long illness, Howe passed away at the age of 88, but his legacy and influence on the world of hockey will never be forgotten. Read even more about Gordie Howe at Wikipedia
