Shane Doan is a former Canadian ice hockey player who enjoyed a long and successful career in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on October 10th, 1976 in Halkirk, Alberta, Canada. Doan began playing hockey at the age of six and showed tremendous potential from an early age. In 1995, Doan was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft. He played for the team for one season before the franchise moved to Phoenix, Arizona and became known as the Phoenix Coyotes (now known as the Arizona Coyotes). Doan would go on to play for the Coyotes for the next 21 seasons, serving as the team's captain for the majority of that time. He became one of the most respected players in the league not only for his on-ice skills but also for his leadership and sportsmanship. In his career, Doan scored 402 goals and tallied 570 assists for a total of 972 points. He is considered one of the greatest players in Coyotes' history and had his jersey number (19) retired by the team in 2019.

Off the ice, Doan was known for his philanthropy and community involvement. He founded the "Shane Doan Foundation" in 2004 to benefit underprivileged children and also supported various causes such as the fight against childhood cancer. In 2017, Doan was awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy for his leadership on and off the ice. After retiring from the NHL in 2017, Doan began working as the Chief Hockey Development Officer for the NHL's Arizona Coyotes.
