Simon Gagne is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played as a left winger. He was born on February 29, 1980, in Quebec City, Quebec. Gagne was first noticed as a talented hockey player when he was picked by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Beauport Harfangs in the 1995 QMJHL Entry Draft. Simon Gagne made his NHL debut in the 1999-2000 season with the Philadelphia Flyers. Within his first four seasons with the team, he became an essential part of the Flyers' first line. In 2006 and 2007, he scored over 40 goals in each season. Gagne's proficiency in the game was further noted in international play. He played as a member of Team Canada during the 2002 Winter Olympics and won a gold medal. Gagne was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2010, where he played until 2011 when he was traded again to the Los Angeles Kings.
