Skottie Young is a comic book artist, writer, and illustrator who has carved out a successful career in the entertainment industry. Born in 1978 in Illinois, Young grew up with a passion for art and storytelling. He began his professional career in the late 1990s as a freelance illustrator, creating artwork and designs for numerous publications, including Star Wars, Marvel, and DC Comics.
Over the years, Young has worked on some of the biggest titles in the comic book world, including the New York Times bestseller "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and the Eisner Award-winning "Rocket Raccoon." But it was his work on the Marvel Comics adaptation of the popular children's book series "The Wizard of Oz" that would lead him to Hollywood. In 2013, Young's illustrated adaptation caught the attention of Sam Raimi, who was in the midst of developing a film adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz" called "Oz the Great and Powerful."
Raimi was so impressed with Young's work that he invited him to create concept art for the film, which starred James Franco and Mila Kunis. Young's designs for the film's characters, costumes, and landscapes were instrumental in bringing the world of Oz to life on the big screen. Since then, Young has continued to work closely with Hollywood filmmakers, including Marvel Studios, on projects that bring his comic book creations to life on the big screen. He has also authored and illustrated several children's books, including "I Hate Fairyland," which he adapted into a television series for Syfy.
