Gary Johnson Autographs
Gary Johnson was born in Minot, North Dakota in 1953. He attended the University of New Mexico, and after graduation, he started his own construction business. Johnson delved into politics in 1994 when he ran for governor of New Mexico as a member of the Republican Party. He won the primary election, and in the general election, he beat the incumbent Democrat governor, Bruce King. He served as governor for two consecutive terms until 2003, during which he reduced the state government's size and vetoed many bills to cut unnecessary costs.
After leaving the governor's office, Johnson joined the Libertarian Party, where he ran for president in 2012 and 2016. During his presidential campaigns, he advocated strongly for limited government, reduced regulations, and greater personal liberties. He also voiced his views on drug legalization, stating that it is up to individuals to decide how to live their lives and what to put into their bodies.
Johnson, who was pro-choice and in favor of same-sex marriage, became the highest-profile Libertarian Party candidate in history, eventually receiving nearly 4.5 million votes in the 2016 election, and had a significant impact on the American political scene. Despite his losses in the presidential campaigns, he continued to be an important figure in the Libertarian Party, shaping the way for their future policies and beliefs.
