Russell William "Rusty" Wallace Jr., born on August 14, 1956, in Arnold, Missouri, is an American retired NASCAR driver. Wallace's father, Russ Wallace, brought him up on the racing track, where Rusty started racing go-karts, modifieds, and sprint cars. Wallace's professional racing career began in 1980 when he drove for Roger Penske Racing, where he won the 1989 NASCAR Cup Series championship. Over the years, Rusty Wallace proved to be a fierce competitor, with his 55 victories in the Winston Cup Series ranking him ninth in the overall standings. More about Rusty Wallace

Wallace's most significant accomplishments in NASCAR came during the 1990s. He dominated and led in various NASCAR races, winning the 1989 Cup Series title and a total of 55 wins. Wallace first tasted victory in NASCAR's top division with a win in 1986 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, driving the No. 27 Kodiak-sponsored Pontiac. He won his first Winston Cup championship three seasons later. Wallace's iconic car was painted black with a large red No. 2, sponsored first by Miller Genuine Draft and then by Miller Lite.

Throughout his career, Rusty Wallace remained an intense competitor and an innovator on the track, with incredible success throughout his time in NASCAR. His bravery and stubbornness were extraordinary, setting the tone for his driving style. His accomplishments throughout his racing career helped him receive numerous honors, including enshrinement into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2013.
