Chase Headley was born on May 9, 1984, in Fountain, Colorado. He attended Fountain-Fort Carson High School, where he played baseball and football. After graduating in 2002, he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the MLB draft. However, he chose to attend the University of Tennessee on a baseball scholarship. In 2005, Headley was drafted again, this time by the San Diego Padres in the second round. He made his major league debut in 2007 and quickly became a reliable player for the Padres. In 2012, he had a breakout season, hitting 31 home runs and 115 RBIs. He also won a Gold Glove Award for his outstanding defense at third base. Headley played for the Padres until 2014 when he was traded to the New York Yankees.
