He was born on September 28, 1942, in Fostoria, Ohio, and attended Bowling Green State University. Jackson began his MLB career with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1965 and played for several other teams throughout his career, including the Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Montreal Expos, and Kansas City Royals. He played in two World Series, winning the championship with the Pirates in 1979. Jackson was also a part of the 1971 Orioles team that made it to the World Series but lost to the Pirates in seven games.
