Vander Meer's most significant achievement during his baseball career was pitching back-to-back no-hitters. On June 11, 1938, Vander Meer pitched a no-hitter against the Boston Bees. Four days later, on June 15, 1938, in a game against the Brooklyn Dodgers, Vander Meer became the only pitcher in Major League Baseball history to pitch back-to-back no-hitters. Vander Meer's feat remains one of the most remarkable accomplishments in baseball history, and it is unlikely that it will ever be repeated.

Vander Meer was a four-time All-Star and an important member of the Cincinnati Reds' 1940 World Series championship team. His career was cut short due to injuries, but his legacy as a great pitcher has endured. In 1987, he was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame, and in 1998, he was selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Vander Meer passed away on October 6, 1997, but his name and accomplishments will always be remembered in the annals of baseball history. Read even more about Johnny Vander Meer at Wikipedia
