In 2013, Yastrzemski was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 14th round of the MLB draft, and he began his minor league career playing for the Aberdeen IronBirds in the New York-Penn League. After four seasons in the minor leagues, the Giants acquired Yastrzemski in a trade with the Orioles in 2019. He quickly made an impact for the Giants, hitting 21 home runs and driving in 55 runs during his rookie season.
