Ron Hassey was born on February 27th, 1953 in Tucson, Arizona. From a young age, he had a passion for baseball and was one of the best players in his high school team. After graduation, Hassey was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the first round of the 1976 Major League Baseball Draft. He started his professional career with the Batavia Trojans in Single-A and quickly worked his way up to the big leagues, making his debut in 1978. More about Ron Hassey

Hassey spent 14 seasons playing in the Major League, ending his career with the New York Yankees in 1991. He was primarily a catcher but could also play in the outfield or designated hitter position. The highlight of his career came in 1986 when he was part of the historic Cleveland Indians team that set a record by hitting 237 home runs in a single season.
