In 1960, Davis was signed by the Dodgers as an amateur free agent. He quickly made a name for himself as a speedy outfielder with a strong arm. Davis played in three World Series with the Dodgers, including the 1965 championship team. In that series, he hit .400 and made several key defensive plays to help the Dodgers win their first World Series in Los Angeles. Davis was named an All-Star three times and won three Gold Gloves during his career.

Davis retired from baseball in 1979 with a lifetime batting average of .279 and 2,561 hits. He was known for his speed and was one of the game's best base stealers, finishing his career with 398 stolen bases. After his playing days were over, Davis remained active in the baseball community, serving as a coach and mentor to young players. He passed away in 2010, but his legacy as one of the greatest Dodgers of all time lives on.
