Throughout his career, Scott was known for his hard-hitting style of play and was considered one of the best linebackers of his era. He spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Ravens, earning All-Pro honors in 2006 and being selected to the Pro Bowl in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, he signed with the New York Jets, where he played four seasons and served as a defensive leader on the team.

In his NFL career, Scott played in 172 games, recording 732 tackles, 25.5 sacks, and 3 interceptions. He retired after the 2012 season and later joined the media as an NFL commentator.
