Steve Bono was a former American football quarterback, born on May 11, 1962, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He played college football at UCLA, leading the team to a win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 1986 Rose Bowl. In the 1985 NFL draft, he was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round. Bono's pro football career spanned 14 seasons, playing for seven different teams. He spent his first four seasons with the Vikings, where he served as a backup quarterback. He then moved on to Kansas City, where he played his best football. Bono emerged as the starting quarterback during the 1995 season and helped the Chiefs to a 13-3 regular season record, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. In his six seasons with Kansas City, he passed for over 10,000 yards and led the Chiefs to four playoff berths.
