A.J. Hinch Autographs
A.J. Hinch is a former professional baseball player and current manager in Major League Baseball. He was born in Waverly, Iowa on May 15, 1974. After playing baseball at Stanford University, Hinch was drafted as a catcher by the Oakland Athletics in the second round of the 1996 MLB draft. He made his Major League debut with the Athletics in 1998 and played for several teams, including the Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, and Philadelphia Phillies, throughout his seven-year career.
After retiring as a player in 2005, Hinch began his career in baseball management. He worked as a special assistant to the general manager for the Arizona Diamondbacks before being named the manager of the team in 2009. Hinch was the youngest manager in the league at the time, and his tenure with the Diamondbacks lasted just over a year. He was fired in July 2010, but was soon hired as the vice president of professional scouting for the San Diego Padres. In 2014, Hinch was named the manager of the Houston Astros. He led the team to their first World Series championship in 2017, and was named the American League Manager of the Year that same season.
Throughout his time in professional baseball, Hinch has been regarded as a skilled leader and strategist. He is known for his emphasis on communication and team chemistry, as well as his analytical approach to the game. Hinch has also been involved in several philanthropic endeavors, including his work with organizations that support veterans and service members.
