Reyes eventually made his major league debut with the Brewers in 1995 but spent most of his early career bouncing between the majors and the minors. It wasn't until he joined the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2005 that Reyes established himself as a reliable closer. In his first season with the team, Reyes recorded 26 saves and a career-best 1.20 ERA. He continued to excel in the closer role for the Devil Rays, eventually earning All-Star honors in 2006.

After retiring from baseball in 2009, Reyes returned to his native Dominican Republic, where he has remained involved in the sport as a coach and mentor to up-and-coming players. Despite not achieving the same level of fame as some of his peers, Reyes was a talented and dedicated pitcher who proved himself over a long and successful career in the major leagues.
