Schacht's career as a player lasted only six seasons, and he retired with a lifetime pitching record of 28 wins and 37 losses. However, he found his true passion in clowning around and entertaining fans. He was known for his humorous antics, even during games. Schacht would often interrupt games with silly gestures, mock the umpires, and make fun of his teammates, all of which earned him fame as a comical figure in baseball. As a result of his popularity, Schacht was hired by several clubs to perform during games, and he became the first baseball clown in 1931.

In addition to being a clown, Schacht was a successful coach and manager. He served as a coach for the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds and managed the Boston Braves from 1935-1937. Schacht loved baseball, and his passion for the sport led him to become one of the most respected figures in the world of baseball. He was inducted into the baseball Clown Hall of Fame in 1959 and the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. Schacht passed away on June 24, 1984, but his legacy as a player, coach, and clown will always be remembered. Read even more about Al Schacht at Wikipedia
