Alejandro Kirk is a professional baseball player from Mexico who currently plays as a catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. Born on November 10, 1998, in Tijuana, Mexico, Kirk began playing baseball at the age of eight. Initially, he played as a pitcher, but he later switched to a catcher because of his strong arm and skills behind the plate.
Kirk signed with the Toronto Blue Jays as an international free agent in 2016. He played several years in the minor leagues, where he quickly made a name for himself with his impressive offensive skills and strong defensive abilities. In his debut season with the Lansing Lugnuts, Kirk hit .354 with seven home runs and 33 RBIs. He continued to impress in 2019, hitting .290 with seven homers and 40 RBIs across two levels of the minor leagues.
Kirk made his major league debut on September 12, 2020, against the New York Mets, where he went 1-for-3 with a single in his first at-bat. He quickly became a fan favorite because of his decisive hitting, strong arm, and stellar performance behind the plate. Despite playing in just 21 games in his debut season, he hit .375 with four extra-base hits and thoroughly impressed the Blue Jays coaching staff with his poise and maturity.
