Alex Arias was born on November 20, 1967, in New York City. He is a former Major League Baseball player who played for numerous teams in his career. Alex started his baseball career as a shortstop and was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the third round of the 1987 MLB Draft. He worked his way up to the Rangers’ minor league system and eventually made his major league debut on September 8, 1992, against the Milwaukee Brewers. Throughout his career, Alex was known for his versatility and could play any infield position on the field.
Alex’s baseball career spanned 12 seasons, playing for six different teams including the Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants, and Anaheim Angels. He is best known for his time with the Florida Marlins, where he played a vital role in the team’s World Series Victory in 1997. He was the only player in Marlins’ history to record a World Series hit, and he achieved this feat in Game 5 of the series against the Cleveland Indians. Alex Arias retired from professional baseball in 2002, and he finished his career with a batting average of .253, with 30 home runs and 193 RBI's.
After his retirement from professional baseball, Alex Arias took on a coaching role with the Chicago Cubs, where he worked as an assistant hitting coach. Further, he served as a minor league coach for the Detroit Tigers and Washington Nationals. In the years that followed his retirement, Alex has become a beloved figure in the baseball community and is known for his dedication to the sport.
