After high school, Alex Graman attended Indiana State University and played for the university's baseball team. In 1999, he was selected by the New York Yankees in the third round of the MLB Draft. He started his professional career in 2000, playing in the minor leagues, where he put up solid performances. Despite suffering several injuries, he made his MLB debut for the New York Yankees in 2004, pitching nine games in the regular season with a 7.36 ERA. He played for the Yankees for one more season, appearing in seven more games in 2005.

In the following years, Alex Graman played for various minor league teams such as the Toledo Mud Hens, the Columbus Clippers, and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. In 2008, he signed with the Hanshin Tigers of the Nippon Professional League in Japan, where he played for a year but failed to replicate his previous successes due to persistent injuries. Alex Graman retired from professional baseball in 2010, finishing his career with a record of 0-2, 13 strikeouts, and an ERA of 9.00 in 16 innings pitched in the MLB.
