Alvin Davis Autographs
Alvin Davis was born on September 9, 1960, in Riverside, California. He had a passion for baseball from a young age, and in high school, he gained a reputation as a standout player. Davis went on to attend Arizona State University on a baseball scholarship, where he continued to impress scouts with his impressive batting average and exceptional fielding skills.
In 1982, Davis was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the Major League Baseball (MLB) amateur draft. He spent his entire 8-year career playing first base for the Mariners. Davis quickly became a fan favorite, earning the nickname "Mr. Mariner." He had a stellar rookie season in 1984, earning the American League Rookie of the Year award, and hitting a .284 batting average, with 27 home runs and 116 runs batted in. Davis went on to have four consecutive seasons with at least 20 home runs and 100 RBI's, cementing his place as one of the best sluggers in the game.
Despite injuries that shortened his career, Davis finished with a .280 batting average, 160 home runs, and 683 runs batted in. After his playing career ended, Davis went on to coach at the collegiate level and was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame in 1997. He continues to be an ambassador for baseball, coaching young players and advocating for the game's growth in communities across the country.
