Andy Pafko Autographs
Andy Pafko was a former professional baseball player from the United States. He was born on February 25, 1921, in Boyceville, Wisconsin. Pafko began playing baseball professionally in 1943 and played as a right fielder and center fielder. He is best known for his time with the Chicago Cubs during the post-war era. Pafko was a four-time all-star and played in two World Series.
Pafko began his professional baseball career with the Chicago Cubs in 1943. He played for the Cubs for nine seasons, from 1943 to 1951, and was a key player for the team during that time. In 1945, Pafko helped the Cubs reach the World Series, but they lost to the Detroit Tigers in seven games. Pafko was known for his strong hitting and fielding abilities, which made him an important part of the Cubs’ success during the 1940s.
After leaving the Cubs, Pafko played for a number of other teams, including the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Milwaukee Braves, and the Detroit Tigers. He retired from baseball in 1959 with a career batting average of .285, 213 home runs, and 976 RBIs. In recognition of his contributions to baseball, Pafko was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 1964. Pafko passed away in 2013 at the age of 92.
