In 2008, Rendon was awarded the Texas 5A Player of the Year while playing for the Lamar High School varsity team. The recognition garnered him a scholarship offer from Rice University where he went on to develop his skills as a top-notch third baseman. Rendon’s college record was quite impressive, and he won the Dick Howser Trophy in 2010, being named the best college player of that season. Rendon's post-college career took off when he was drafted by the Washington Nationals in 2011.

During the 2019 Major League Baseball season, he earned an invitation to the All-Star Game and helped the Nationals to their first World Series triumph.
