Despite having a solid career, Young is unfortunately remembered for setting a dubious record. He lost 27 consecutive games between May 1992 and July 1993, a streak that began during his second season with the Mets. This losing streak broke the record of 23 straight losses that had been held for almost 80 years by Cliff Curtis. Nevertheless, Young was a dedicated player who will be remembered for his perseverance, determination, and his contributions to baseball. He retired in 1998 holding a 26-48 record, a 3.89 ERA, and 427 strikeouts.
