Barney Schultz Autographs
Barney Schultz was a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. He was born on August 15, 1926, in Beverly, Ohio, and began playing professional baseball in 1948. He was mainly known for his knuckleball, which he learned while serving in the U.S. Army in Korea. Schultz was able to master this pitch and became one of the most effective relievers of his time.
Schultz played for several teams during his baseball career, including the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and Detroit Tigers. His most successful years were with the Cardinals, where he played from 1958 to 1964. He was known for his excellent control and ability to deceive batters with his knuckleball, which helped him achieve a career ERA of 2.65. He retired from baseball in 1969 and was inducted into the Cardinals Hall of Fame in 1981.
