Bill Bonham Autographs
Bill Bonham was a professional baseball pitcher who played for the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds in the 1970s. Born on August 16, 1948, in Glendale, California, Bonham started his baseball journey playing for the El Camino College. During his time at El Camino, he earned All-Southern California honors and was later signed by the Chicago Cubs in 1969.
Bonham made his Major League debut in 1971 and quickly became known for his fastball and devastating curveball. He pitched for the Chicago Cubs for six seasons and had a career record of 75-83 with a 3.88 ERA. Bonham's best season came in 1972 when he was named as the Cubs' Pitcher of the Year. He finished the season with a 18-12 record with a 3.29 ERA and led the National League in strikeouts with 200.
In 1977, Bonham was traded to the Cincinnati Reds where he played two seasons before retiring. His career ended with a record of 89-99 and a 4.01 ERA. Although he never won any major awards, Bonham was a reliable pitcher who was respected by his teammates and opponents alike. He is still regarded as one of the most dominant pitchers in the 1970s and will always be remembered for his contributions to the game of baseball.
