Bill Nahorodny Autographs
Bill Nahorodny was born on February 14, 1953, in Joliet, Illinois. He started playing baseball in high school, where he played catcher. He then attended Illinois State University, where he played for the Redbirds baseball team. In 1975, Nahorodny was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 10th round of the MLB draft.
Nahorodny made his major league debut with the Tigers in 1976, and played with them until 1978. He then played for the Seattle Mariners, the Cleveland Indians, and the Chicago White Sox, before ending his major league career in 1984 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Nahorodny was known for his defensive skills as a catcher and for his ability to hit for power. Throughout his career, he hit a total of 42 home runs and had a career batting average of .245.
After his major league career, Nahorodny played for several years in the International League, a minor league baseball league. He also coached and managed in the minor leagues for several years, and was the manager of the Rockford RiverHawks in 2007. Nahorodny’s contributions to baseball were recognized in 2015, when he was inducted into the Joliet Area Sports Hall of Fame.
