Bill Pecota is a former American professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues as an infielder from 1986 until 1994. He was born on February 16, 1960, in Redwood City, California. Pecota made his debut with the Royals in 1986 and quickly became an important player for the team, playing second base and third base. He was known for his versatility and ability to play multiple positions, which helped him earn a starting role for most of his career. In 1989, he had his best season, hitting .316 with seven home runs and 49 RBIs in 112 games. He was later traded to the New York Mets in 1991, where he played for two seasons before finishing his career with the Atlanta Braves in 1994.

Despite his relatively short career, Bill Pecota was a solid player who contributed to his teams with his versatility and ability to hit for average. He finished his career with a .249 batting average, 22 home runs, and 168 RBIs. After retiring from baseball, he worked as a scout for the San Diego Padres and later for the Seattle Mariners.
