Bill Robinson was a professional baseball player who was born on June 26, 1943, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He began his career as an outfielder with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1966, and spent the next five years playing with various teams, including the San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, and Atlanta Braves. Robinson's best season came in 1977 with the New York Yankees, where he posted a .296 batting average and hit 17 home runs. He was also a valuable member of the Yankees' 1978 World Series championship team, hitting a crucial home run in Game 4 of the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Robinson played his final season with the Yankees in 1983, and retired with a career batting average of .258 and 166 home runs.

After his playing career, Robinson became a coach and manager for various teams, including the Pirates, Yankees, and Baltimore Orioles. He was known for his ability to connect with players and his passion for the game of baseball.
