Tuttle began his baseball career at age 21 when he signed with the Detroit Tigers in 1950. However, he spent most of his first two seasons in their minor league teams. He was eventually called up to the big leagues in 1952, and he quickly made a name for himself as a reliable outfielder who could steal bases and hit home runs. He also had an exceptional throwing arm and was known for his ability to throw out runners. In 1955, Tuttle had his best season, hitting .294 with 27 doubles, 21 home runs, and 79 runs batted in.

Tuttle played for several more years, switching teams and moving around different leagues, but was eventually forced to retire in 1963 due to a knee injury. However, his contributions to the sport didn't go unnoticed. Tuttle was considered one of the best outfielders of his time and was eventually inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1984. His legacy in baseball, coupled with his impressive playing career, cemented his place as one of the greats. Read even more about Bill Tuttle at Wikipedia
