During his time with the Highlanders, Bryan was known for his excellent fielding skills, especially in the outfield. He was a quick and agile player who could make acrobatic catches and throws with ease. He was also a solid hitter, with a career batting average of .272. In 1906, he led the American League with 19 triples, and in 1907, he stole a career-high 33 bases.

Bryan's baseball career was unfortunately cut short due to a serious knee injury in 1910. He attempted to make a comeback with the St. Louis Browns in 1913 but was ultimately forced to retire due to his knee not being fully healed. Despite his shortened career, Bryan left a lasting impression on the game of baseball, and he was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 1959.
