Bob Barton Autographs
Bob Barton was a former professional baseball catcher from Norristown, Pennsylvania, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1965 to 1974. He was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 16th Round of the 1963 Major League Baseball Draft. Barton played most of his career as a backup catcher with the Giants and the Oakland Athletics. He was known for his excellent defense behind the plate, and his ability to work effectively with his pitching staff.
In his 10-year MLB career, Bob Barton played in 484 games, registering 299 hits in 1208 at-bats, with a batting average of .247. He hit 10 home runs, drove in 98 runs, and scored 104 runs. Barton played most of his career with the Giants, appearing in 388 games, but he also played with the Athletics and the Cincinnati Reds. He was part of the Giants teams that won the National League pennant in 1965 and 1971.
Barton retired from baseball in 1975, but he continued to be involved in sports as a high school and college coach. He also worked as an analyst for the San Francisco Giants' cable television pregame show in the 1980s. He was known for his dedication to the game and his passion for teaching young players. His contributions to the sport have earned him a well-deserved place in the history of baseball.
