Bob Dillinger Autographs
Bob Dillinger was an American professional baseball player who enjoyed a long and successful career spanning from 1946 to 1956. He was born on September 26, 1918 in Glendale, California and grew up in the nearby town of Burbank. Dillinger attended Burbank High School before attending Glendale Junior College where he played for the college baseball team. He was known for his powerful swing and his ability to hit the ball to all fields.
Dillinger was signed by the St. Louis Browns in 1939 and began playing in the minor leagues. He made his major league debut with the Browns in 1946 as a third baseman. In his rookie year, he batted .303 and hit six home runs. He played for the Browns for four seasons before being traded to the Philadelphia Athletics in 1950. He played for the Athletics for three seasons before being traded to the Detroit Tigers in 1953. Dillinger had his best season in 1954, batting .306 with 11 home runs and 66 RBI. He played his final season with the Chicago White Sox in 1956.
Dillinger was known for his consistency as a hitter and his solid defensive skills. He had a career batting average of .272 with 42 home runs and 348 RBI in 1,048 games. He also played for several minor league teams during his career. After his playing career, Dillinger went on to become a minor league manager and a scout for several major league teams. He passed away on February 16, 2002 at the age of 83. His legacy as a reliable and talented ballplayer lives on in the annals of baseball history.
