Bob Kipper Autographs
Bob Kipper is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played from 1985 to 1992 for various teams, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, and Texas Rangers. Kipper was born on May 18, 1964, in Aurora, Illinois, and grew up in Aurora and later in Aurora Township. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1982 where he played his first season of professional baseball in the Gulf Coast League.
Kipper made his Major League debut in 1985 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he pitched for four seasons. In his rookie year, he led National League rookies with seven wins out of the bullpen, and in 1988, he had a career-high 10 wins. After his time in Pittsburgh, Kipper played for several teams, including the Giants, Rangers, and the Cleveland Indians. However, his career was interrupted by injuries, and he retired from professional baseball in 1992 with a career record of 27-37, 4.34 ERA, and 304 strikeouts.
After his baseball career, Kipper remained involved in the sport as a coach and instructor. He served as a pitching coach for multiple teams, including the Milwaukee Brewers and the Kansas City Royals. Kipper also worked as a pitching coordinator for the Pittsburgh Pirates before being named the pitching coach for the Miami Marlins in 2018. Through his post-playing career, Kipper has been praised for his ability to develop pitchers and has helped many pitchers reach the major leagues.
