Born in California in 1946, Bob Robertson developed a keen interest in baseball at an early age. At Napa High School, he was a star player in both baseball and football, but it was on the diamond where he truly shone. Robertson's powerful swing and impressive arm caught the attention of scouts, and in 1967 he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. More about Bob Robertson

Robertson made his Major League debut in 1969, but it wasn't until the following year that he got his chance to shine. In 1970, he hit 27 home runs and drove in 82 RBIs, helping the Pirates to win their first National League East division title in the franchise's history.
