Bobby Grich is a former American baseball player who was born on January 15th, 1949 in Muskegon, Michigan. He attended California State University, Long Beach, where he played baseball for the school's team, the 49ers. Grich's professional baseball career began in 1967 when he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles as the fourth overall pick. Grich quickly became one of the Orioles' most reliable players, earning five consecutive Gold Glove Awards from 1973 to 1977 for his exceptional work as a defender. In addition to his defensive prowess, Grich was also an excellent hitter. He hit at least 20 home runs in six seasons and was named an All-Star six times. In 1979, Grich signed with the California Angels where he continued to play at a high level.
