Bobby Ramos was born on February 6, 1955, in San Jose, California. He was a talented baseball player who began his professional career as a catcher in 1973 with the Atlanta Braves. He spent the next few years playing in the minor leagues with various teams until he finally got his big break in 1978 with the Cleveland Indians. Ramos played for several teams during his career including the Toronto Blue Jays, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the New York Yankees.
Ramos was known for his strong defense behind the plate and his ability to handle pitchers. He was a backup catcher for most of his career and never became a full-time starter, but he made a name for himself as a proficient pinch hitter. He was a reliable player who could always be counted on to make solid contact with the ball. Over the course of his career, Ramos played in 299 games and finished with a batting average of .263.
After his playing days were over, Ramos became a coach and manager in the minor leagues. He spent several years coaching in the Baltimore Orioles organization before moving on to manage the Houston Astros affiliate in the Texas League.
