After graduating from high school, Fullmer was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the third round of the 1993 Amateur Draft. He spent several years in the Expos' minor league system before making his major league debut in 1997. Fullmer quickly became a fan favorite in Montreal, thanks to his dynamic play and his natural charisma.

Throughout his 10-year career, Fullmer played for several different teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays, the Anaheim Angels, and the Texas Rangers. He was a consistent contributor at the plate, and he earned several awards and accolades for his performance. Despite his many successes, Fullmer had to battle through a number of injuries during his career, and his tenure in the majors was cut short by a lingering shoulder problem.
