Brandon Backe is a former Major League Baseball player, best known for his time as a pitcher for the Houston Astros. He was born on April 5th, 1978, in Galveston, Texas. Backe attended Galveston Ball High School, where he played baseball as a middle infielder. After high school, Backe attended Galveston College, where he continued to play baseball. In 1998, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 18th round but didn't sign, and in 2000, he was drafted by the Astros in the 18th round and signed. More about Brandon Backe

After his retirement from playing professional baseball, Backe worked as a coach at a high school in Houston. However, in 2019, he returned to the Astros as a guest instructor during Spring Training. Despite his injuries that caused his retirement, Backe remains a legend to many Astros fans, who remember him as one of the pitchers who helped lead the team to two World Series appearances.
